Minnie The Moocher | All day Classic bistrot-bar

The History of the “Minnie the Moocher” song

Very few songs have been passed down from generation to generation and especially in the unique way that this song has been passed down over the decades until present. It is fair to say that almost “everyone” pretty much knows and reminisces about the memorable rhythm by only the sound of the song’s title. Minnie the Moocher was first recorded in 1931, the United States prohibition era, by Cab Calloway and his Orchestra, selling over a million copies. While the song is highlighting the creator’s musical genius it is at the same time the precursor of the orchestral swing and jazz rhythm, which would eventually take over the international music trends and effectively will always remain up to date.

The History of “Minnie the Moocher” all day bar

Minnie the Moocher Bar borrowed its name from Cab Calloway’s homonymous song and introduced to Athens a thematic, All-day classic Bistrot-bar with timeless value.
It is located in the very heart of Kolonaki area and right in the middle of the busy pedestrian street of Tsakalof road. Commemorating the story of the legendary song and inspired by the prohibition era, Minnie the Moocher is a time-capsule which travels its visitors back to the 1930s with the jazz/swing background and the elegant ambience with vintage decoration details. The velvet curtain of the bar entrance reveals a genuine American hangout with a full cocktails’ list, an up-to-date collection of wines and spirits and a full course meal menu for every hour of the day. Just like Minnie at the homonymous song had “as big a heart as a whale” that much do we love and care for our customers.
